Buzz about biodegradable plastics breaking down and releasing methane gas too quickly in landfills took over the bio-plastics blog space in June with the release of a paper from researchers at North Carolina State University. This research was performed using ‘Compostable plastics’ which are designed to break down in as few as 180 days after disposal, a degradation rate so rapid, even most banana peels and avocado pits have trouble keeping up.

Pure Plastics is taking the concept of biodegradable products to a new level. We are committed to creating biodegradable products and packaging that are cost effective, and yet retain all the advantages of traditional plastic products for the Agriculture and Horticulture industries. Conventional plastic pots, trays and ag-films have long since proven their value and necessity in increasing crop yields as well as performing well in the grueling world of retail floral sales. Yet the problem remains with their disposal as well as the fact that conventional plastics take several hundred years to break down. If ever.

The solution, EcoPure biodegradable additive. The problem with most biodegradable additives and resins are the change in product performance. Often times bio-plastic products break or tear, and some times melt, thus making them “not-compatible” and inferior to their conventional plastic rivals. These product performance issues are unacceptable to most ag-hort. professionals who demand high quality and value in the plastic products they buy. EcoPure in unlike all other biodegradable additives because it will not change the physical characteristics of products made with it. There will be no change in the strength, durability or performance of the products your currently making.

By partnering with Pure Plastics and using the EcoPure biodegradable additive in the plastic products you make, your company can join with other leading manufactures in offering eco-friendly solutions and products. Because Eco-Pure works in almost every common type of plastic including PE, PS, PP, ext. incorporating the additive into your current production stream is very simple and straight forward. Please check out our Tech Talk section for more information about how EcoPure works, and how to use it.
